Ever since we created the NeighborhoodPlaybook in 2016, we’ve witnessed the growing struggle between false choices. We can be grassroots or corporate; we can be profitable or inclusive; we can listen or we can act; we can support the development or we can fight for what we are. Amidst this, we’ve become even more energized by the power of &.

We can simultaneously support development & community. Growth requires physical places & the people that come together to power change. A design company can both create beautiful concepts for a place & play a proactive role in working with its partners to build communities that they love. For us, 2023 was a doubling down on the abundance of & constantly challenging ourselves to keep changing the way places can change for the better.
