During construction of Foreword, the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum needed a clear and welcoming interim arrival that kept people oriented without losing the tone of reflection that defines the place. Yard designed a temporary entrance experience that treats the whole approach like hospitality, reframing a construction phase as a guided, mission-forward journey from parking to galleries. The sequence links garage-to-gallery touchpoints with simple, visible wayfinding: pillar wraps and A-frames in the garage, mesh fence graphics along the construction route, a marked sidewalk entry, and a quick-build lobby that functions as a true welcome room for ticketing and retail. The path continues through a branded hallway and elevator arrival with the Memorial’s mission present in concise messages, and closes with a purposeful exit through Archives. Conversation seating and a safe window into the work on site turn waiting time into learning. The result is a connected system that reduces friction, keeps operations moving, and makes a temporary condition feel intentional, respectful, and memorable.
