On behalf of its City Market, the City of Indianapolis engaged Yard & Co. to facilitate a master planning process for its iconic downtown marketplace. Against the backdrop of a growing district and changing downtown post-COVID-19, the challenge was to both establish the vision for the future and design a transitional operating system that would allow the City to effectively partner with surrounding development projects in creating a vibrant and coherent whole. In addition to the schematic design for the market hall and its context, Yard established the transitional operating structure, identity, activation plan, and create a welcome kit as the City onboards a new market operating partner.
